Hello. My amp has the following RMS specs: 300x2 @ 2ohm 200x2 @ 4ohm 600x1 @ 4ohm bridged
Each sub can individually be wired into 1 or 4 ohms. I was wondering if I could wire one into a 1 ohm, the other into a 4ohm and them bridge them in series for a total of 5 ohms. That would get me near the 600 watts.
The 4+1 setup you describe would work well if you were wiring a midrange with a sub, but with two subs...not so good! It isn't the output POWER of an amp that makes strong bass...it's output CURRENT (CURRENT=acceleration!)! If you wire each with a different resistance, a different share of the CURRENT will go to each sub and a lot of your bass will get cancelled out! You'll get much better output and sound quality by going 200x2 into 4ohm each sub!
