An amp that will do 100wrms x4 @4ohms is gonna cost ya some real cash. But if you get four 4ohm speakers and a 4ch amp, you are essentually getting 2 pair of 4ohm speakers and two 2ch amps. Each "side" of a 4ch amp will act as its own independant amp. Some amps even lable each "side" as "amp 1" and "amp 2". So if you put a 4ohm speaker on each channel of a 4ch amp, you will get a 2ohm load per side. So that means that w/ four 4ohm speakers, you can get an amp that will do ~50wrms x4 @ 4ohms. That same amp will do roughly 100wrms x4 @ 2ohms, which is the load it would actually see if you run four 4ohm speakers on it. ya get it? |
