alex.w *// Unregistered guest | i have a bandpass system with 2 4ohms 12" svc subs. From my research i only have 2 choice in wiring. 2ohms in parallel and 8ohms in series. My question is which one will be better 2 ohms or 8 ohms, my amp is not 2 ohm stable bridged or not bridged...so i guess my only choice is 8ohms? will that be bad for the amp? |

HelpTheSubless Unregistered guest | I dont know if ur amp can support 8ohms.. most of the car audio amps i've seen are either 1, 2 or 4 ohms stable. Unless ur amp is powerful enough to run at 8ohms.. u have 2 options: 1) Get a new amp that can run @2ohms 2) Get 2 more subs of the same kind for a total 4ohms Check RF's site: http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/wiringwizard.asp |

You will actually be giving the amp a less stressful load than over 4ohm. The downside is lower power output. Take you amp specs for bridged @ 4ohm then divide that by two and then by two again. That is the approx. power output each sub will be seeing. Once again thats assuming your amplifiers rated power is accurate. |
