Silver Member Username: NewbPost Number: 112 Registered: 12-2003 | i remember there was some discussion on what voltage an amp was rated. something like 12.9v but when the car is running its 15v, the differential gradient allowing the battery to charge. i was wondering as far as the amp is concerned, does that make any difference? for example if an amp is rated 300w rms @12.9v, does it put out say 400w when the car is actually running? |

Unregistered guest | If the amp has a regulated power supply as some do, the input voltage won't affect the output power. otherwise, not allowing for efficiency, watts = amps * volts, so if the input voltage changes, so does the power output. idle/battery voltage is 12-12.5V alternator voltage above idle is 13.8-14.4V |
