currently running a 170-180 wrms power acoustic gothic series amp to a 250wrms mmats pro series 12inch sub...if i go to a 300wrms amp will the increase be noticiable? and will it be bad to go over the rms of the sub, if its not how much more can i go over? and what brand of sub is good in that watt range,,,,thanx in advance

stick with what you have, you'd really find no audible difference for the money that you spend...you'd gain maybe .3db on a mic. nothing that you're ear would noticable notice.

If you're really into running a 300rms system, look at an Adire audio shiva...

could i go any higher say 500wrms amp with out blowing the sub, i know mmats subs are really good and underated, and how much would it take to be able to hear a noticible increase?,,,

chances are if the sub is 250RMS then it wouldnt take double that at 500 watts RMS

yea it'd be alright with 300 maybe 350 if you're pretty gentle on a gain, but usually if a subs rated say 100rms, its not gonna want too much more let alone double that...
