170w rms amp...200w rms sub???

170 W AMP @ 4 OHMS BRIDGED TO MONO....I COULD BUY A 12" JL W4 THAT HANDLES 200W @4 OHMS WOULD I BE UNDERPOWERING THE SUB?..WOULD IT HURT IT? OR I CAN RUN MY 120W RMS@ 4 OHMS JBL SUB WITH THE 170W RMS AMP WOULD I BE UNDERPOWERING THE SUB...OR DAMAGING IT EITHERWAY? AND THE 12" JL SUB COMES IN A SEALED BOX...OR SHOULD I BUY A PORTED ONE FOR MY JBL? WHICH IS BETTER SEALED OR PORTED BTW I LISTEN TO HIP-HOP TYPE MUSIC AND WANT THE LOWER BASS....THANKS

what kind of amp is it? and if it does produce 170 u should be fine to go with the w4

its a jensen 2/1 channel bridgeable 340 watt max....170w rms @4ohms bridged...model # a34xp...whats max? is it achievable? what box you recomend? sealed..ported?...thanks

the jl is fine and will have good sq if you want low end boom the larger sealed box they recommend is what you want if you want more apl and still good sound go smaller ported will add even more spl add still a good sq

And no, underpowering that sub by 30 watts will not hurt it.
