Bronze Member Username: RhasslerGilford, NH Post Number: 84 Registered: Dec-04 | hey my friends gettin two alpine type R dual 2 ohm subs. he wants 1 amp to run both of them and wants to spend at most $280 ish thanks for the help |
Gold Member Username: SubfanaticWalton, Ky Post Number: 1741 Registered: Dec-04 | how about an interfire IB2900C amp that pushes 550 watts rms at 2 ohms bridged for 225 plus shipping lol or an audiobahn A1300HCT 600 watts rms at 2 ohm wire the subs to it giving 300 ti each sub lol for 280 shipped |
Gold Member Username: Taylor17Kopperl, Texas Post Number: 1225 Registered: Jan-05 | If they are the old type R's, the amp's Sub said will work perfect. If they are the new type R's, you'll need a little bigger amp than that.:-) |
Bronze Member Username: RhasslerGilford, NH Post Number: 85 Registered: Dec-04 | lol thanks for the suggestions. those subs are dual 2 ohm each. if he got a 2 channel amp, he would wire each sub parralel to amp to have a 1 + 1 ohm to equal a 2 ohm load tight? would the amp have to be 1 ohm stable? |
Bronze Member Username: RhasslerGilford, NH Post Number: 86 Registered: Dec-04 | the amp, Hifonics ZX6000 Zeus Series 2 X 150 Watts RMS into 4 Ohms 2 X 300 Watts RMS into 2 Ohms 1 X 600 Watts RMS into 4 Ohms would that work? or does it have to say 1 ohm stable or sumthin lol |
Silver Member Username: FishyTamarac Ft.Laud, FL USA Post Number: 780 Registered: Sep-04 | I'd run the voice coils in series for 2 4 ohm subs then run the subs in parallel for a 2 ohm load. Running subs in series isn't as desirable and yes, if you plan on utilizing a 2 channel amp its going to need to be stable into 1 ohm stereo(2 ohms bridged). It may be tough to find one of those, so you'd probably be better off with a monoblock. -Fishy |
Bronze Member Username: RhasslerGilford, NH Post Number: 87 Registered: Dec-04 | ok well hes gettin 2 of the old Type R's. if he were to get a mono amp, say 600 watt rms at 1ohm. how would he wire that correctly so each sub gets 300 watts... and do u have any suggestions? thanks for the help |
Silver Member Username: FishyTamarac Ft.Laud, FL USA Post Number: 781 Registered: Sep-04 | If he doesn't mind purchasing off E-bay this would work: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=64573%26item%3D5763733525 %26%26 Don't be fooled by the price. Thats a great amp. Its just a discontinued item and may go for a lot higher than that. Here's the specs for the A6001: http://www.xtant.com/html/techSupport/pdfs/A3001_6001Man.pdf Same amp, different color. Don't limit yourself to what we recommend however. There's plenty of other good choices out there. -Fishy |
Gold Member Username: Taylor17Kopperl, Texas Post Number: 1226 Registered: Jan-05 | No, you would need a different amp. From what you posted, that amp can't handle a 1 ohm load. You could wire them in series, but you won't get near the power you wher looking for. |
Bronze Member Username: RhasslerGilford, NH Post Number: 88 Registered: Dec-04 | lol i cant get that link to work |
Silver Member Username: FishyTamarac Ft.Laud, FL USA Post Number: 782 Registered: Sep-04 | If he has two dual 2 ohm voice coil subs he only needs a 2 ohm stable monoblock. Those subs can be wired to provide either a 1/2, 2, or 8 ohm load. -Fishy |
Bronze Member Username: RhasslerGilford, NH Post Number: 89 Registered: Dec-04 | sorry but monoblock means.... mono amp? lol |
Silver Member Username: FishyTamarac Ft.Laud, FL USA Post Number: 783 Registered: Sep-04 | Lol, yeah. If you can't get those links to work try copy/pasting them to your address line. I know this is confusing, but basically, if I've got the info on those subs correct, you need either a monoblock that provides its best power into a 2 ohm load or a 2 channel that does its best at 1 ohm stereo(2 ohm bridged). -Fishy |
Gold Member Username: SubfanaticWalton, Ky Post Number: 1744 Registered: Dec-04 | maybe consider the audiobahn i have lol |
Bronze Member Username: RhasslerGilford, NH Post Number: 90 Registered: Dec-04 | ok lol thanks a bunch, i know audiobahn isnt a top of the line brand, but what do u think of A1801T - Audiobahn 1 Ch. 800 Watt Amplifier 800 x 1 at 2 Ohms Mono .. so if thats wired to a 2 ohm load, each sub gets 400 watts. do u think that is pushin it for the sub which says 100-300 watts, 1000 watts peak? |

Gold Member Username: SubfanaticWalton, Ky Post Number: 1746 Registered: Dec-04 | hahhahha fishy god i love ya lol, but uh i wouldnt push it lol but you would wiere the subs together to get a 1 ohm load together not a 2 ohm load and then the power would be split even, as it would be with mine as well lol |
Bronze Member Username: RhasslerGilford, NH Post Number: 91 Registered: Dec-04 | lol... i guess ill keep lookin haha |
Gold Member Username: SubfanaticWalton, Ky Post Number: 1748 Registered: Dec-04 | haha good job, maybe uh, |
Silver Member Username: FishyTamarac Ft.Laud, FL USA Post Number: 785 Registered: Sep-04 | Nah audiobahn may be alright, but Xtant makes a much better product IMO. Check out Glasswolf's "Good, Bad, and Ugly list": http://www.caraudiocentral.net/forums/showthread.php?t=32 400 watts should be ok as long as you don't go crazy with the gains and push those subs into clipping, but depending on the enclosure even 200-250 watts ea might be enough to push those subs to full excursion. -Fishy |
Silver Member Username: FishyTamarac Ft.Laud, FL USA Post Number: 786 Registered: Sep-04 | You can't wire those two subs together for a 1 ohm mono load unless you only use one voice coil. A dual 2 ohm sub can be be wired either as a 1 or 4 ohm driver. 2 of these in parallel gives you either a 1/2 or 2 ohm load and wiring them in series(not recommended) results in either a 2 or 8 ohm load. I know - very confusing. -Fishy |
