Hi Glasswolf,

since I don't understand anything of I-Personalize I need your help. Please.
(Yeah I am kinda of a moron; a Dutch moron to be precise).

I recently purchased an Alpine 9835R (European Model so therefore "R").

- Both front (door) and rear (door) speakers are CDT Audio ES-620 component sets.
- I currently have a 3 subwoofer setup, consisting out of 3x MB Quart PWE 302 subwoofers.

The amplifier for the component set is a SoundStream Tarantula 500/4 and the amplifier for the subwoofers is a Rockford Fosgate 1501 BD.

So if you could help me out with this... A big thanks.

Perhaps you should wait more than a few hours before complaining. Glasswolf isn't constantly monitoring this.

do you need general set up,or just i-personalize? because there is much more to that unit, than i-personalize.

I would be happy with any help I can get! :D

Oh and the subwoofer setup has changed to a 2 subwoofer setup: 2x Adire Audio Brahma 12" subwoofers.

So any help you can provide with setting up, I would be grateful.

Sorry we took so long to help you.

The first thing to do is to set the crossover correctly for all components. It's been a while since I've fooled with a 9835, so forgive me if I'm a little off with the numbers. With your equipment, you can start by setting the HPF for the components to 100hz, and the crossover for the subwoofer at 80hz (I can't remember if that head unit has 100hz, if not, set the HPF to 80). This unit has 24db/oct filters, so that should be fairly close to optimal. If it sounds like too much bass in that region, set the HPF for the components to 125.

Next thing to do would be to set up the time correction. The manual will have equations you can do for time correction, but generally if I use it I do it by ear as it assures more accurate sound. Those equations don't compensate for any reflections etc. that may occur. Begin by delaying the left side speaker. Increase the delay until the music seems to come from in front of you. Once you get that set, then listen to see if any side is louder than the other, if it is, then set the balance to compensate. Subwoofers really don't need time correction as they don't suffer from the phase problems that upper frequencies do. You'll never need to use the right side time alignment unless you're trying to impress the person in the passenger's side.

Now you can begin using the equalizer. I have never used I-Personalize, so I really can't help you there. You can email Alpine for info or you can do even better by going to a local shop and using an RTA. It will cost a little bit, but you'll get better results.

You'll see the I-personalize link there. It does allow you to set crossover, EQ, and time alignment online, but personally I haven't used it and real world testing gives better results than a website. That's why I recommended the steps above.
