If you had to choose, which of these 12" subs are better in a ported enclosure? Brand, Quality, Realiability, SQ, SPL.. Hands down which is the BEST out of these.

1. Rockford Fosgate Punch Stage 3 (500 RMS / XMAX "12 mm" / 1000 Watt Peak)

2. Audiobahn AW1206T (1,100 RMS / XMAX "18 mm" / 2,200 Watt Peak)

3. Alpine Type-R SWR-1241D (300 RMS / XMAX "13.87 mm" / 1000 Watt Peak)

4. Alphasonik 800 Series PSW812 (900 RMS)

Which would you choose if you could afford to push any of these at FULL RMS power. Please give me an idea of each if you can.. Which are good, do any of them suck..

Appreciate it...

Heres a much better list for cheapo subs in ported enclosures, and there is no best sub, and a sub cant be spl and sq....it can be sql

1. comp vr's
2. type r's like u said (perform well in small enclosre with 400- 500 to it)
3. Adire Shiva ( SQ)
4. Memphis Power Reference (Great FOR price)
5. Infinity Perfect .1 series

All these sub perfrom great with 600-1000 watt amp and can be had for 80-125$ per.

That list you came up with was mostly garbage I'd use this for better subs.

Yep, go with the Type R, git the new R's if you can aford them.
Second, go with the Rockford. The other's won't stack up to them.

I'd choose a Shiva, it just wasn't on the guys initial list. Best bet for the money, Great SQ and very good SPL, it hits harder than a Type R does or Punch 3 does. You just have to remember it requires larger enclosures.

is 1.5 cubic feet internal enough for a shiva with 250 watts?? I can get a fiberglass enclosure for only 100 dollars plus shipping.

Yep, 1.5 will do as long as you stuff the box with some polyfill. General rule is 1lb per cubic foot of box volume, you'll get good results with 1.5 lbs of it (pillow stuffing, you can get it at Wal-Mart).

Yes, thanks again for your help. Without these forumns on ecousics i would be completely lost. I work at a sears store and before looking on the internet i though that sony and kenwood were good. Boy was a freaking out of the loop.
