ok so i've got me a 10" free air sub, pushed by a 200 watt amp... i need to build me a box for the sub, but with it being a free air... what would be the best kind of box for it? (amateur here)

The suspension of a sub designed for free air (infinite baffle) use is designed with a high suspension Q, so generally it will work best in a large sealed enclosure. Usually with subs that are designed for free air use, the box you'd build would be so large that it would take up a ton of trunk space and would offer no huge benefit over a free air application. Best thing to do is to run it free air via a baffle board separating the trunk and cabin.
