Insulating Vent in Subwoofer Box?

I recently purchased (2) subwoofer boxes for my (2) 12" Kappa Perfects. I received them today and noticed that one of the boxes has a sheet of insulation stuffed along the backside of the port (vent). The other box didn't have this (or I can't tell or get back there to look) piece of insulation/pollyfill.

Are there any benefits to insulation the actual vent, and not the box? I should note that the insulation fully fills up the space for the air to travel. Its hard to explain, but the backside of the vent is stuffed with the sheet of insulation. When the vent hits the corner of the backside of the box, and then turns up to the front, the insulation stops.

I've never seen anything like it. Should I remove the insulation or put another sheet in my second box?

Here is the link to the boxes I bought: %26
