What does a remote wire do and what is the correct way to hook up 2 dual voice coil subs to a 2 channel amp?

Remote wire goes from the front deck to the amps. It tells the amps to turn on when the head unit is on. What's the amp? What's the minimal resistance the amp can run current into? What's the resistance of each coil of the sub? But here's there answer: look at other threads! There're millions on how do this.

Need some advice on making a Y connection for RCA cables...
I have two front speakers and two subs that I hooked up to a 4 ch. amplifier but the RCA cable I got only has two outputs. Can I just splice the cable to make a Y connection without affecting the sound quality? Is there an effective technique to do this?

use a 3-way electronic crossover like the Coustic XM-3 or Audiocontrol 3XS
