What would you rather have two $200 subs or one $400 sub and why? Just looking for your opinions.

I'd rather have $400 dollars to spend on a hooker!

well depending on what subs you are looking at and how much space you have to work with, i would sugest 2 $200 subs unless you only have room for 1 sub.

That all depends on the room you have to work with and if you want SPL or SQ. 2 $200 subs will play louder, but a good $400 sub can play almost as loud and still sound better. As daniel said, it really comes down to what type of subs, and what type of box.

Yep, totally dependant on what you intend to do. Usually a single $400 sub will do better SQ wise and nearly match in SPL, but it depends on what subs you're talking about. You can get some great subs nowadays for 200 bucks.

depends on a few things I agree.
sub's cone surface area
sub's comparative excursion (combined)
the amount of power applied to both setups
type of box, and system goals

one better high excursion sub will probably outperform two cheaper entry level subs all the way around, but you'll pay more to power that one sub, too.
