This might be a stupid question but what do i need to hook up 2 speakers directly to my head unit without a amp. My head unit is Alpine CDA 9825

just speaker wire, really.
18AWG should be plenty.

RCAs are only to run to an amplifier.
the alpine has speaker leads. you connect those, via the speaker wires, to the terminals on your speakers.
this is all diagramed and explained in the alpine manual which comes with the 9825 and can be downloaded from alpine1.com

o lol well thanks i guess i didn't look very hard at the back of it lol so 18G is good for 2 Pioneer 6X9's

plenty. yes.
you can use 16ga if you really like.. either is fine.
radio shack sells both on a spool of about 50 feet.
that'd be 25ft per side.
