Hi, here's my deal...

I have a phoenix gold xenon 4ohm 10 inch sub, apparently it can handle 450 watts rms

I also have one alpine mrd 301 amp,
apparently produces 350 watts rms at 2ohm and 175 watts rms at 4ohm

so therefore its seems as though at the 175 watts my sub is underpowered..is that true, and if i want to get another sub and amp, what should i do, should i get a another 4 ohm sub and put it into parelle or can you give me some suggestions thank you

and why would they sell me a 4 ohm sub when it seems like a 2 ohm sub is way better cause amps put out way more power at 2ohms

thanks a bunch

Anything puts out more power at a lower resistance. If the sub is DVC you can wire the coils in parallel to get it to 2ohms. If it's SVC you're stuck with 4ohms until you get another sub. See how it sounds with 4ohms if it's SVC. If you have subout on your headunit, just turn up the bass to send more current to the sub.
