Wiring a 4 ohm sub

I have a dual 4 ohm voice coil subwoofer,I have a 2 channel 1000 watt amp hooked up.1 channel goes to one voice coil,and the other channel is on the other voice coil.Is this a good idea?

it not always a good idea unless the amp is mono

There's all the information for your amp, via Crutchfield.
» 160 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms
» 240 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms
» 480 watts RMS x 1 bridged output at 4 ohms
» 4-ohm stable in bridged mode

So since this is a stereo amp, and assuming your sub is 4 ohm DVC, you will only be able to wire it up in 4 ohm stereo.
» 160 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms
One channel to each coil.
