they're pretty average. personally I wouldn't go with anything below the 8000 series if you want them to hit hard.

between the two I'd probably take the CV subs myself.. but I don't really know what you're after.. just SPL? SQ? I'm a SQ guy myself so I go after accuracy and detail over raw volume when I look at subs.

i agree that cv as a whole has better sq than mtx but those vmax arent exactly the best sounding woofer cv has made. i like the older cv's, at least ones without plastic cones.
(my p.a. system for our band is cv:-) )

well, he only gave two choices..
I agree there.. I still have my LE12D subs from 1989. those puppies are terrific and hella efficient with the foam surrounds and treated paper cones.
