Sub Question

I was curious about using multiple box types in the same vehicle. I keep reading that a sealed box is good for one type of sound, but not another and a vented box is good for another time of sound, but not the same as the sealed...would it work to have 2 boxes each with one sub, but have one box be sealed and the other vented...or a vented with a bandpass?

has anyone tried that? much room do u need between the magnet and the back wall of a box? could you make a thin box thats long sound just as good as one that is more proportional on all sides?
example...7" width, 13" depth, 30" depth verses 14" width, 14" depth, 13" depth for the same volume.

using different boxes would defeat the advantages of each box. It's pretty pointless.
Just use the box best suited to your tastes.

Rule of thumb is that you want half the diameter of the speaker between the back of the magnet and the rear of the enclosure.
If it's a 12" sub, that'd be 6" of space.
