would a 400 rms class A/B outperform a 300 rms class D amp?

The simple fact that 400 watts is still 400 watts, and 300 watts is still 300 watts should lead you to believe that one is still more wattage than the other. I think you can figure this one out on your own.

class d amps just save you voltage, it has nothing to do with the wattage the amps put out.

correction:
they all use the same voltage.
a class D amplifier is more efficient, thus uses less current to produce the same amount of power versus a class AB amplifier.
class D is about 80% efficient.
class AB is about 60%.

but as noted above, 400 watts is still 400 watts.
the 400 watt class AB amp will not only produce more power, but more heat as well, and less distortion, better SNR, and will work as a full range amp wheras the class D will only function for subs.

nope.
always 12 to 14 volts, DC.
that's your car's electrical system voltage.
the current used varies though, and the amount of current available depends on the size of your car's alternator.
