Bridging my amp for subs. May be a dumb question, but oh well.

Ok, supposedly my crappy 100x4 watt amp is not bridgeable, but I was wondering what exactly would happen if I did bridge 2 channels on each side so I have 200x2? I doesn't say it's bridgeable, but I am really curious why it isn't, because I don't see many that aren't, and what would happen if I did bridge it?

you could try it some times it just wont work and somtimes it just blows your amp and some times it sounds like crap

you'd fry the amp, yes.
when you bridge an amp, you invert the signal on one of a pair of channels, so the sine wave is reversed for one channel of the pair.
this has to be done by pushing in a button, or flipping a switch.
if you can't invert a channel, you can't bridge teh amp.

if you join two channels (left front and rear) together on one speaker, you'll short out the amplifier.

its not 1200 watts, just to be clear.
that's peak rating.
real RMS is:
"200W x 2 RMS into 4 ohms"

"Speaker impedance -- 2 - 8 ohms (stereo)
Speaker impedance -- 4 - 8 ohms (when used as a bridging amplifier)"

yes it supports bridged mode.
it'd put out 800 watts RMS @ 4 ohms bridged, theoretically.
actually, closer to 600 watts RMS, since you lose some power to heat and inefficiency when decreasing impedance.

500W x 1 RMS into 4 ohms, 20Hz - 20kHz @ 0.15% THD

yes

ah ok I just skimmed the page. I didn't see the bridged output rating.
hey my guess was close though! hehe

no.
if it's stable to 2 ohms stereo, it'll see half that load bridged, so only stable to 4 ohms.

2 ohms bridged is like 1 ohm stereo
