i have a brahma 10" in me car...i noticed the other day that it made a tapping sound durring tight punchy bass, i cant figure out why in the world its doing this!!!
i call adire and they said to run it w/ no box and watch it to see that is does, so i did. i found that i can run a sine wave to it and it wont make the tapping sound, even when its moving pase xmax. (this thing REALLY moves )
BUT, when i play music w/ tight punchy bass, it makes the tapping sound. also when i play songs w/ deep, slow bass i dont get this tapping sound. ONLY WHEN I PLAY SONGS W/ PUNCHY BASS...it freaking me out! it taps w/ this punchy bass and its nowhere near xmax!!! its only movin like an 1" peak to peak when it taps!!!
what could be wrong? could the coil be out of alinment?
the sub might be reaching it's mechanical limits for Xmax, or it chould be a faulty enclosure design. the amplifier may also be clipping at these times due to gains being set improperly, or lack of sufficient current to drive the amplifier (weak alternator)
