i'm just starting up my car audio system. i'm looking at the moment at getting an amp and a subwoofer. so what do i all need to get a functioning system. what do i need to buy. thanks
To get a functioning system you are going to need the following:
Amplifier, Subwoofer(s) Amplifier wiring kit, and Pre-outs on your headunit are always helpful. Woofer Enclosure
Seems to me that you will be using rather "entry" level woofers and amps, and depending on your car your alternator should be able to handle the load, but I don't have any specifics, so I can't say for sure.
The amp wiring kit will come with the positive cable for power, Negative for amp ground, usually RCA cables for running signal from your headunit to the amp, and remote wires. Possibly a distribution block. Also, a fuse for the + cable and you'll want to get a fuse for your remote wire which is also included.
You are going to need an enclosure for your woofers. The enclosure really depends on the woofer, and what kind of sound your looking for.
