Bronze Member Username: Bigap15Post Number: 18 Registered: Sep-04 | I Was wondering if soundstream amps are underated. Because i found a SoundStream RUB500-1 Rubicon II Series 1 Channel Amplifier rated at 200 watt rms @ 4 ohm and 500 watt rms @ 2 ohm. I need about 600 watt rms for my 2 subs. Will this power them or should i find another amp. |

I have a Rub300-2 and it sounds great for mids and highs and pretty decent in bass applications as well. I'm not sure about that 500 watts. The Rub500-1 is basically the same as the Rub501. http://www.soundstream.com/sub/owner_manual/rub501.pdf just built after Soundstream was bought out. The 501 develops 400 watts at 2 ohms and 500 at 1 ohm. Soundstream also usually rates the lower impedance power of its amps at 14 volts so you're gonna need a good alternator to guarantee full power at 2 or 1 ohms. Regardless, your subs will sound good altho I'd say a JBL BP600.1 would be a bit louder. -Fishy |
