No, you could use any amp you want. I would say to get a Mono channel amp, so that way you could run the two sub in paralell. Or get a two channel.

ok and do i divide the RMS rating by 2 if its a mono amp to see how much power each sub will be getting?

what does it mean to run subs in parallel.

How would the RMS change if you ran two subs off one amp in parallel?

yeah, i would like to know as well ...

if you have 500 watt amp, like a JL 500/1, and you have two subwoofers that require 500rms each... if you hook these two subs up to the amp does each sub get 250w or 500w? I know that wiring in series or parallel changes the impedence, but does one wiring option change the amount of wattage a sub would receive? Can someone explain this a little more in-depth? I've looked online but havnt found much of an in-depth explanation (I've found wiring diagrams and such, but none on the asked question above)
