I have an Sony STR-DE597 (cheap) but its cabable of DD and DTS.
Movie's are detected by AFD just fine on my PS2. I know all about the Ps2 menu systems.

However, I tried to play some DVD concerts:
Coldplay-Dolby Digital+DTS
For reason, the menu system is in Dolby Digital but when the actual concert starts it switches to Dolby Digital 2.0.
Same thing happens with my Fleetwood Mac "Live in Boston" Concert DVD.
Is this normal?

My Reciever has a Purple led when DD is activated.
It does light up, but only during menus, then switches to DD 2.0 when the concert starts.

???

Thanks, Test,

Maybe the concert is supposed to be DD2.0. Look at the back of your DVD cover and verify the sound format and see if it clearly states 5.1.

Keep in mind that all DVDs are different and are not equals because each one can be recorded in a different format.

If your receiver properly detects 5.1 movies, but not your concert, then it's the concert disc format that is to blame.

Im glad you have it figured out. With all of these formats...etc, etc....It can be confusing when something doesnt play like you think it should.

If you're anything like me,(very soon) you'll be reading the back covers of all of DVDs before purchasing to check the recording format. How funny is that?
