I have a 50" Samsung DLP. I am waiting for a replacement fan to come it. I was messing with a DishNet remote trying to pull up the menu and the screen went from snow, (wasn't connected to anything at the time) to black. Lamp is working. I can not get the tv to work with any inputs. It shows it is on DVI and I can not get the menu to stay open to change inputs. The menu will open and immediatly close. With the Samsung remote I can get a snowy screen on PIP but can get it to swap. Any ideas? Is this because of the bad fan?

Thanks,
~BK

depending on WHICH fan went south, you may have cooked something critical.

This is one of the early, 720 sets, right? I think my neighbor has one which will be replaced as soon as he has the funds.

However, if you can, look up and than try to do a 'hard reset'. You may need a functional remote which I suppose is also suspect....but not very.

Use the ORIGINAL TV remote, if available.

It is the lamp cooling fan. Remote is new. Tried a hard reset and no change.

It was due to the fan.
