DVR set up to record 4 channels at once

To be brief: I currently have 4 vcr's (2 per tv) & often record 4 programs on 4 diff channels concurrently while watching a tape on a 5th vcr. This can only be done analog (i.e., not w/ a cable box of course).

I know nothing about dvr's but I would like to achieve the same thing as I'm now doing w/ vcr's using dvr(s). Can anyone offer any ideas on how?

It seems there's no way around paying a monthly fee when using dvr(s). It also seems I would need 2 dual tuner dvr's which would allow recording of 4 channels simultaneously (2 per dvr) while watching a pre recorded show on 1 of them. Is this correct?

Also, ideally both dvr's would be wired to 1 tv. Without having seen a dvr's wiring I don't know if that's even possible...
Thanks
