Off subject with comp question

I can't get the start bar to come on: I have tried to right click on the bottom; middle, everywhere on the screen, and nothing. I tried to put in the xp disc. it tells me to press any key to get in, but won't put up a prompt box. nothing..it alway's goes back to the screen pic. any help thanks again.. I still lurk a lot, and like that there is a lot of diff kind of people here. |

I am able to get the task mgr up..but when I do a new task, and get start..nothing comes up...do i need to get to the repair...or system restore...how?? |

Gold Member Username: JustforhahasPost Number: 1940 Registered: Jul-08 | A good simple option to perform when some functions don't work on yer computer is to... unplug your computer and open the casing...then unplug/unsnap/pullout your memory ram chip/s (some have 1, some have 2...lil printed circuit boards), and then blow a lil aerolsol dust remover on the contacts where the chip/s where at....then replug/snap the ram chips back into their original spots, and reboot the computer...this fixes many odd problems sometimes, so yer puter memory works again and remember all its functions....and this is a simple 30 second task fix.. |

Can you get into your control panel settings? look for the icon on the desktop "my computer" then open that and look for the "taskbar and start menu" icon. uncheck auto hide the taskbar. Btw try moving the curser right to the very edge of all sides of the screen it might have gotten moved to the top or sides. |

This leaves a small line at the bottom of the screen and when you touch it with your mouse cursor it magically reappears. That is unless someone or something moved it to the right or left or even to the top of the screen and hid it there. Its a pretty cool magic trick to play on someone. Its very easy to fix once you find the taskbar right click on it go to properties and uncheck the auto hide taskbar box. |
