I like veiwsat better than pansat..

Viewsat ID's the sat it is looking at for one thing....I have less trouble getting a viewsat receiver to controll a motor as well....but its almost like a chevy-ford argument some like apples some like oranges better....

That was a freezing on some channels fix not a fix for the current PPV-MOVIE-PURN-ETHNIC-BEV not working...if they had it for that receiver it would be out for all viewsat's that part is the same for them all..

right now best setup to get is dvbcard build urself a Home Theater base off a computer. ucould be watching tv right now.... with the dvbcard it's easy to setup a pvr and you can also watch bev hd channels depending on what card u get.

thill1951 : I know a lot about computers, Linux, Ubuntu.
I know NOTHING about dvbcard and the setup you are suggesting. I wonder if you should start a new thread and describe the physical setup and approximate costs.

YA that does seam to work most of the time complicated to set up though for most users here....a dreambox also works most of the time basically the same thing as the DVB card but the dream box is not plug and play eather like a FTA receiver..

It will not help someone posting after me statements like "It was easy for me" or I got mine and set it up in 5 min" It is not easy for a inexperienced lynx user like most users of this forum would be.

you r pretty smart.. there are tons of great sites geared towards the beginner for dvbcards and linux system just set aside like a hour or two and search away on google.. in the other thread I posted links to the top 3 dvbcard app's each a great place to start from...

dreamboxes trippledragons and relooks all great boxes and normaly up before pancraps etc because a lot of the coders average joes that are into this as a hobby and a few are dvbcard owners
so it kind of goes from one to the other...

I went with the relook over dreambox because it has a dual tuner

a great site to start off and run from is
http://www.sat-industry.net

there are a whole mess of great sites u pepople are missing because u where all brainwashed into thinking any outside site posted on here was taboo by the little old lady lk he wanted to keep u all down and rule over u.. thats why he attacked anyone posting sites on here out of his control.. in some ways u all have continued to follow his lead... break the chains LK is gone hehehehe now u all can spread ur wings and soar like a eagle...

lets start by the following:

PRICE, WHAT KIND OF TV, DISHES, ETC...

PRICE - lets name a few good ones for the money

Captive Works CW600Premium - $80 usually has fast fix and really solid unit for the money

Pansat 3500SD - $130-160 not a bad box has SD card feature to load files but not that great overall

Viewsat Xtreme - $130 Really good box for the money...great guide and features (serial cable upldate)

Viewsat Ultra - $155 probably the best box out there in terms of features USB update very fast

Viewsat Pro - $190 same as ultra but you can add a usb harddrive to make it almost pvr (still has a few bugs because its kind of new)

Viewsat9000HD - $450 amazing box (still has lots of bugs) gets bev hd $180 more for module to get DN hd...not that everything is down...DN hd is still wide open on most channels so im really enjoying this box!!!!****Requires HD TV

Sonicview 4000 - usb box very good like viewsat

Sonicview HD - also really good like viewsat
****Requires HD TV
There are many more....Coohlsat is also not too bad has great pic quality and has probably the least amount of bugs out of any receiver....

so overall:

Price....go with Captive works...its cheap and reliable

Fast and USB - go with Viewsat ULTRA

PVR - go with Viewsat PRO

HD - go with Viewsat HD 9000

Is DVD Dream internet based on PC?
