Today i got a new coaxial cable to connect lnb to receiver. Whenever i buy coax cable it is simple connection from lnb to receiver. The new one i bought has some copper wire attached outside to the coax cable. The cable is 50 ft and the copper wire is just attached outside (outside the black cover of wire) and both ends of the copper wire is open. When i try to peel off of this additionally attached copper wire it comes off.
I've heard about grounding and i think that is the reason this wire is for.
For now the coax cable is connected to lnb and receiver and copper wire outside is just left as it is
Im concerned about this. Shall i just remove the copper wire off from coax or if it needs to be grounded how to do it in correct way
I've installed the dish in my deck and it is open space. Thanks
The outside conductor doesn't have to be connected or grounded but a good precaution to protect your house electronics from high static electricity in the Air.
If yo want to connect it: (1-end of the conductor) to: A coupler >>>> (outside metal case) or to A DISEqC switch >>>> (outside metal case)
(other end to an anchor connected few inches deep to your soil)
Thanks King I got what you said the other end to soil (i.e the coax enters house wall, and ground goes outside house wall to soil) I didnt understand the 1-end of the conductor part i.e you said coupler or diseq.. 1-end of coax goes to lnb 1-end of ground touches the round dish or base post or it touches what..you said coupler or diseq ..couldnt get it
