In order to receive High Definition TV Channels,
your TV needs to have a built-in, a High Definition Digital Tuner.

Well I'm not familiar with Co0lsat 8000HD

But in general you don't need HD tuner except for cable.

- Coaxial input to receiver is OK
- You can't use coaxial output to TV
- You can't use yellow White and red RCA cables either.
- You must use HDMI cable or 5 wire component RCA cables [Red and white for Audio, Red/Green/Blue for Video RGB
- You may also need to setup receiver to auto Wizard if it has that capability. It enables different HD formats such as 720p and 1080i
- Sometimes you have to setup receiver resolution Manually.
- Sometimes you won't get certain channels if receiver is set to resolution smaller than broadcast.

You should be able to get any HD broadcast

Boss
I did say I'm not familiar with the 8000HD
Great chance the device has many bugs.

I did list few basic things to be considered when using HD digital box for any HD receiver out or soon to come out.

LK, a friend of mine recently got co*lsat 8000hd to watch hd channels on dn, - are you sure this receiver doesnt work for DN HD channels? And why is that? What information in the specs can be used to confirm. As always your help is greatly appreciated.

QPSK is used for 82 hd
8PSK is used by dishnetwork

bev will soon change to the way dish is....
i heard that the new viewsat n cw hd boxes will have same problem....but there will be some attachement released retailing around 200$ that will make them 8PSK capable

this sucks for people who wanted hd with the koolsathd8k and only get it from one source...(for a limited time) but be patient and we will soon be fully hd capable

there is no time frame on this but it wont happen til at least summer

That makes perfect sense to me
To be honest with yo all I don't have neither BEV HD nor DN HD
If anyone got 82 this what you can expect:

QPSK as an MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 can be displayed on SD receivers (distorted picture)

So my point is if you are shopping around for a good true HD receiver make sure it has this:

- 8PSK
- MPEG-4 and MPEG-2
- 1080i
- HDMI

It will prepare you for the future of HD FTA broadcast and perhaps PTA
BEV, DN and DTV

DTV use much lower resolution than 1920x1080i perhaps to save a lot of bandwidth and fit more HD channels. I don't know what they use I don't talk to those guys maybe something like 1080x720p

Don't rush into HD guys there is a lot of testing stages to both coders and broadcasters.
What's the rush. I think all of the HD coders out there are inferior devices.
Subscribe for a year much cheaper
or get an HD antenna and save money.

I say Simple 123 is:
Any DN Dish + Circular LNBs
Dish 500 with twin LNB
One coax wire no switch required
Viewsat, magnum or sonic VU receiver

LK says
Dish Pro TWIN LNB with internal switch is the easiest and simplest to use for DN satellites 110-119...1 cable and NO switches...makes it VERY simple to align and can also have 2 receivers with NO additional hardware/cables/switches...
