My old laptop which as serial female port is broken. I'm trying to run balck list uploader without connecting cables and it comes out with error as

Can't open Serial Port!!!. System Cannot find the file specified.

My other laptop does not have any serial port. So I bought USB to Serial converter cable.
My problem is this cable is male and not female.
I have old RS 232 female to female cable.
So I connect USB to my new laptop and other end of that male cable to my female cable.
It still have same error. It looks like it does not even find the file.
What is wrong here.
I have installed the USB driver as been suggested.

Many receivers will not work with USB ports connections..U have an OBVIOUS communication problem between receiver and computer..use an older puter with serial port..

Since you doin't say what receiver you have its hard to tell if you have the right cable which also may be the wrong one. Some use null and some use straight through. The excelent suggestion of a different computer,Moms, bros, neighbors, the one at work?Try them if you've used that cable before and know it works.

I have Fortec Ultra. I have tried with my old laptop while using USB stil same error.
Classic thing is even without connection any cables, even if you run the balcklist loader and select the bin file we still get the same error.
Can some one please give me Black list loader.
I have downloaded black list loader from dss rookie and it does not work
Thanks

Have you used that cable before????????????
That receiver uses a straight through cable not null..they look identical.
Another computer will fix you right up if it's the right cable. And forget the usb until you know the cable is the right one.

reach honey....

The USB to Serial converter must have a CD with the drivers you need to install in order to tell your pc to "simulate" the USB to act as a common serial port....

Did you installed the drivers???
