before you click the pc-stb button, make sure the box switch is off from the back of the box, then click the start button and turn the switch on at the same time from the back of the box, this will start the download, do not unplug or turn off the box when the download is done until your box restarts.

Thanks for the info, but I tried that and it is still not working, I know it's not my serial cable cause I am able to update my pansat box fine. Where did you get the loader2 from?

When you upload the file to the reciever, does the upload start or does it just stay at 0%

Thanks bob bob, but that didn't work. I have tried everything ... I'm wondering if the serial port is bad.

Which Com is your loader set on? Mine was set on Com 4 and I could not load. Well I checked my computer and found that my usb connectors are set on Com 8. I reset to Com 8 and ......walla.

Oh...by the way...the new computer I got did not have a serial port so I had to get an adapter and use the usp connectors.

First of all, if you click on loader 2 the screen will pop up RUN click on run , if it opens
up and your serial cable is plugged in the right port it will open up the loader no problem , if your serial cable (a null modem cable) is plugged in to the wrong port,it will say com port open failed.if you have it all right , we have to adress another problem , first things first try that and get back to me

NULL MODEM CABLE
Failing to use the NULL MODEM cable supplied by the vendor. OIther STB's use a "straight through" cable; ViewSat uses a NULL MODEM cable.
What's the difference?

NULL MODEM cable: (called a "twisted pair")--USED FOR VIEWSAT!!!
Has 9 pins, but only these are required:
Pin 2 to Pin 3
Pin 3 to Pin 2
Pin 5 to Pin 5

Straight through serial cable: (called, dah, "straight through")
Has 9 pins, but only these are required:
Pin 2 to Pin 2
Pin 3 to Pin 3
Pin 5 to Pin 5
