I am trying to setup Telstar 5 with 30" eaglestar dish and KU LNBF. I have setup my LNB as Universal-1 in my receiver. The best I could manage to get the signal strenght is up to 72% quality. I did blind scan and it picked up only 2 TPs. That gave me 2 pentagon FTA channels. How do I get the rest of FTA Asian channels ? Am I missing something ? I thought 72% of quality should be enough to at least pick up the channels. Any help will be appreciated.
I am a total newb but was able to hit it, although it took me 8 hours to do so other folks here could answer you better but I would say keep trying. good luck!
Mike, My receiver FLU does not have the satellite list that you have on the left. Do I need to reset my system to default ? What I did was I manully select a live TP and then did a blind scan. then I got only 3 TPs and 2 channels.

HI Mike, I seemed to get signal only on some vertical TPs. Some shows up to 70% quality but none of the Horizontal TP received any signal. Is this mean something wrong with my hardware or setup ? I have tried different settings for LNB types.
andrew, because DN is down now,we all need a new bin to bring all the channels back.anyone have the same problem like your, there will be a fix or DN might be dead.don't know yes.
Ok,lets start over. Standard LNB settings are 10750 I mean punch in/enter, the transponder Frequency it will have 5 digits for Ku band then punch in the Polarity H=Horizontal or V=Vertical and punch in the Symbol rate, then move your dish until you get quality. These blind/smart search receiver can be also used as a tool to find satellites, make sure everything is set up in the antenna LNB area then just do a blind scan and see what satellite you pick up sometimes its easier to work back from there, but the dish has to be point correctly or you will get nothing. Or you get, let say bird T6(IA6), loads of news feeds there ( The feeds are not a TV service and they come and go a bit here also). If you got so just note the position of this satellite then move left or right slightly and do another blind scan, the next two or three satellites at each side of T6 will be at the same elevation. Then go for T5 (IA5) next its only +5 deg to the right from behind the dish, thats a VERY small amount to move the dish to the west.(from T6 to T5 is about 1/4" turn to the right. I guess you have tried moving your LNB left and right slightly, and in and out from the dish slightly to see if you can tweek the signal any, a bigger dish and a better LNB is about all you can do if you are sure you have a perfect line of sight and the dish is pointed spot on!
On T5Ku is more ACTION than you'll find on DN !!! For Ed ; don't give up your search !!! At my location , the 30' dish for T5 ,has almost the same direction like DN !!... So , point it to DN and after that play with ELEVATION ! In my case , the elevation is a bit LOWER than DN and my signal quality never goes more than 52% . Try it !
FTA Azz...either U are ignorant and know nothing about FTA and the DSS game or are a Canadian Azz newbie who is a native (red skin), or a scammer!...yeah, there's a new magical receiver to buy when all other FTA receivers are down, except a coo*lsat with a reader that is basically useless unless U do unlocked plastic rom 102 with an iso, and an unlocker...so which U might as well just do the plastic and forget the coo*lsat!..
About the ELEVATION , just to see if you get a signal on your receiver , start from 37 ' if you live in one of these states : Pa / Oh / In / Io / NJ / Ne . This is NOT a 2 min. job , but will give you a head start . Play , try and have FUN !
