i need help i want to get my computer to recognize my ports to port1 so i could get my laptop to recognize vortex pro 7700 to download the necessary information to get my channels to work on my receiver
go to device mananger then double click on Ports(COM&LPTP) go to Comunications port(COM#) go to Port settings go to advance lower left corner choose port and whala thats for XP Are you using a serial to usb cable?

i have a hp laptop and a moschip serial usb chord i installed the drivers but it still doesnt do anything my laptop says that the device is working properly but it doesnt do anything
Go to the vendors website and find the latest dirvers for the os you are using and install it. then go back to step number one. if you still dont get the com port show is cause the os simply does not recognize the drivers. you need to buy another cable but not just any cable you need to buy a cable that your receiver can talk to. there are lots of cables on the market today and even if you have a cable that the os recognizes does not waranty that the receiver will be able to tranmit data or viceversa to the laptop. Before you buy a new cable go to a forun search engine and find out which cable works for the receiver you are using, otherwise you are going to lose your money again.
