I have a Viewsat Extreme. I know it isn't HD compatible but I have a Pioneer plasma with a media receiver that is HD compatible. I.E. if I plug the coax directy to the media receiver I get HD. However the media receiver cannot decode any scrambled signals.

My question is: Can I just use the Viewsat to decode the scrambled signal and redirect that signal to the media receiver and get HD? Or does the Viewsat decode and convert the HD to SD? If so is there any way to bypass the downconverting and just redirect the unscrambled raw signal??

no chance,
your receiver has to be HD.because it has to pick up HD channels first through the receiver.
with your receiver it only pick up the chennels that is broadcasting digital signals only....
