Mikobu III : Device not detected.

Keigo Oyamada
Hello, I updated to windows XP a few days ago, and now when I open up Extreme HU it says on COM1 that my Device is not detected. When Running WIN98 I have had that problem before, but I don't exactly remember how I fixed it. I have tried uninstalling extreme hu and re-installing, re-connecting the Mikobu to my computer once or twice, even cutting the power to it and giving it back, and plugging it back in. Yet still no device detected. Any advice, tips, questions? -KO

ditto with my extreme shureshot."device not detected"?.....help!!

Hi, sorry to cut into this thread. I'm having problems with my Mikobu III programmer. It has never worked. I tried it on 2 computers with same results. My desktop is a Compaq Celeron 2.8, and laptop is a Sony Vaio P4 2.8.

When I first installed it on the serial port on my desktop, nothing happened. In the instruction I've read online, it showed that the computer is suppose to recognize the programmer and ask to "Add Hardware". But this does not happen. How do I add it manually without a disk?

When I installed Extreme HU 3.5a, it said COM1 failure, and device not detected. So I changed the setting to COM4, and it connected, but device still not found. Then I read somewhere that it only works on COM1 or COM2, so I uninstalled COM4 in device manager. But now, COM1 still does not connect, and device still not found. What am I doing wrong? Is there something I'm missing here? Should I change COM1 settings? How do I get this thing to work? Thank you for any advice.

all I have to say is you people need to do alot of reading. first of all in order to use any loader you must have all the support packages installed. then follow the instructions
Mikobu III / Xtreme Sureshot - USB Drivers

Connect the USB CABLE with the converter.

Now, connect the serial com port head to the back of the Mikobu III Regular Glitcher.

At the back of your computer or laptop (some of new computers are in the front), please find the USB port and connect the USB head to the computer or laptop.

Please plug the 9v 300 mA + power supply to the loader now. And you will see the light on the loader should be on.

After you power up the Mikobu III Regular Glitcher, you will see a pop up window shows "Updating hardware information database".

And now you should see "USB Device" New Hardware Found.

The window now should change to "Add New Hardware Wizard " In the yellow circle it should show install "USB Device". Please select on the second option "Search the location of the driver". And please click on the NEXT > button.

NOTE: Please make sure you have download the MIKOBU USB DRIVER and unzipped to C:\unzipped\MikobuUSB\ before you proceed this step.

The pop up window now should show the screen on the left and please click on the NEXT > button again. If you unzipped the MikobuUSB.zip into different folder, you can click on the BROWSE button to search.

If the driver is successful found and install, the window should change the screen on the left and please click NEXT > again.

When you see the Mikobu USB COM PORT message in the yellow circle area, that means you have successfully install the driver and hardware.

Please note the MIKOBU USB DRIVER will virtually create the USB port to COM 3 or COM 4. Please change the loading settings under Extreme HU to COM 3 or COM 4 (most computer is on COM 3)

After you change the loading settings please save it and exit, and now under the Extreme HU program you should see COM3 or COM4 : READY and Device: Detected. and now you can start to use your Mikobu III Regular Glitcher with USB cable.

Testing is my business.......and business is good.....!

Want to purchase a mikobu 3 I guess. Are there different versions? Better models? Cheapest I found is at DSSCYBER.COM ($79.99) Anyone know anything about their service. They give free lifetime file support with purchase. Dont know how good that is. Thanks

Hi Guys,
Please help me. I downloaded the Mikobu USB drivers and extracted them to the folder that I downloaded them into (C:/unzipped/Mikobu USB)
I am using Windows 98 Second Edition.

My Mikobu has only one green light on. When I plug it in (pluging in the USB first, then the PS/2 for power, it does detect a USB device. Then the next screen (called add New Hardware wizard) does not refer to it as a Mikobu 111 USB Edition, it detects it as a USB Human Interface Device.

I have no choice but to go forward, so the next screen asks "what do you want windows to do?", and I let it search for the drivers which are on the floppy. It then tells me that the specified location does not contain any information about my hardware. I then try to install the drivers by directing the installation to the C:/unzipped/Mikobu USB, and it says the same thing.

I have tried to let windows search for the drivers, and I have tried to install the drivers by pointing to the direction where the drivers are on the floppy and the folder on the C drive. No luck.

I have tried to flash the unit unsuccessfully. I keep getting "An error occured in flashing. Please reset the harware and try again." I unpluged the unit, tried rebooting, then pluged the USB wire first, then the PS2.
Same thing. I tried flashing with both M6.2 and UL4S. No luck.

I also tried to install the unit without the USB, only using the serial plug and the PS2 plug. Still no luck. I am running out of options here. Is there supposed to be more lights than just the green light? In my research I thought I saw someone talk about a red light on the unit. From the first time I hooked this thing up, there were no other lights, just green.
Is my unit defective?

If I install the unit without USB, are there no drivers for the serial version?
I have looked for serial version drivers on the net, but all I see are USB drivers.

At no time has this device appeared in my device manager.

I really appreciate any help that I can get.

Thanks in advance from a really frustrated dude....

I have tried everything Bluez said and it is the same way: Com Port 1 Ready and Device: Not detected. Any other suggestions? It appears as if XP is the problem?

you must load those two programs before running extreme hu and in that order and it should work but xp has issues with usb to serial plugs and require usb drivers i seen a download for extreme hu for xp at dsscentral.net

Bluz - I have tried it all now. Everything you said to try. I cannot believe that so many people have the same problem. I am going to try a 3rd. computer on Windows 98 and see if Mik works. I hope that it is working and that the problem is in XP. I still believe that a fix in XP has caused a reset problem for the device. Thanks for your assistance and keep me informed.

Bluez - okay - this amazes me - with a 3rd. computer running Wimdows ME, I was able to detect the device on ComPort1. However, I cannot flash UL4S because when I do, it says that it cannot detect the device. So, now I know that the Mik works but I need to find either why XP has made the Mik undetectable or find a way to flash in Windows ME. Comments? I appreciate your comments.

PART I OF II

To start service, please call customer service, ext. 711

What it means: For HU Cards this means that the card is Partially Activated Fuse Byte 20 DF or it may also mean that Directv has Deactivated your card with an EOS (End Of Service) packet. If this is true then your Fuse byte will be 24 DB so check for that.

What to do: Clean and Reapply the script your using or Change the Fuse Byte to 25 DA or if it is a Deactivation Problem, you will need to make sure you have no Corrupted Group keys on your card (Tier Wipe Blocking, CMD90/80 Blocking, Prevent Area Blackouts, etc...)and that the card was not Deactivated because of its NON Subbed or never subbed state. So if possible use a Subbed Bin.

For ordering information, please call customer service, ext. 721

What it means: The Channel this Message is appearing on either does not have its tier on the card or the Tier was on the card, but has been wiped.

What to do: If the file was an Extreme Hex File then use the "Add Tiers Only" Option in ExtremeHU. If it is a .bin or .IMG file, then you will need to reinstall. If you are a legit Subscribed Customer, you will need to call Dave and have them add the Channel(s) to your lineup.

For ordering information, please call customer service, ext. 722

What it means: The Tier for this Channel Has Expired (Not Wiped) usually after 55 Days.

What to do: Reapply the Activation Script (with new Tier Expiration Dates). Or if you are sub customer and has had the card out of the receiver for more then a month, then you will need to call Directv and have them resend the tiers to your card

Your Access Card is full. Please call customer service, ext. 731

What it means: Your access card has exceeded its pay per view limit. This happens if you have ordered more then 25 PPV's which is the limit for An Access Card which has 25 PPV Slots (8 Bytes Each).

What to do: Wipe of the PPV's using ExtremeHU 3.5a.

For ordering information, please call customer service, ext. 732

What it means: This can mean 1 (or more) of about 3 things:

You've gone above the PPV purchase limit

The Bin you are using is truent on Payment

Directv has changed your PPV Purchase Limit to $.01 due to the subscriber of the Bin not having the phoneline plugged in.

What to do: Set your PPV purchase limit higher.

If the bin you are using is from a truent subscriber then make sure he/she pays the bill or find another bin to use

If your getting this message because Directv changed your PPV Purchase limit to $.01 then make sure the subscriber keeps his Phoneline plugged in at all times (especially if he is not Testing.

For ordering information, please call customer service, ext. 733

What it means: To make a pay per view purchase, you must request a callback.

What to do: First, be sure the phone line is connected to your receiver and is secure and plugged into a phone outlet all the time. If the connection looks good, run a system test as described in your owner's manual. If the system test shows that the phone connection is good, call customer service at the number on your DIRECTV bill. Also try changing the PPV purchase option byte at 241B is 69. Remember this byte is encrypted so you'll have to encrypt it before you write it to this location. Use Extreme HU and set this byte manually.

To request PPV capability, please call customer service, ext. 734

What it means: Your account is not set up to allow you to make pay per view purchases with your remote control.

What to do: Make sure you have 69 as your PPV Ordering Code.

If your a Legal Subscribed customer with a non hacked card call DTV and request that you be enabled to order via your remote.

Please try again, or call customer service, ext. 741 / 742

What it means: The service you are trying to order is not transmitting correctly.

What to do: Carefully repeat the service order by following the
instructions shown on your television screen.

For ordering information, please call customer service, ext. 743

What it means: There is a problem transmitting the programming information to your DIRECTV equipment.

What to do: Call customer service at the phone number on your DIRECTV bill and select the option for technical assistance.

For ordering information, please call customer service, ext. 744

What it means: Directv's troubleshooting system indicates there may be a problem with your equipment. Your Receiver is most likely Corrupted

What to do: In Most Cases a Reset and/or a reboot of the receiver will be sufficient and will solve this problem.

NOTE: See "For ordering information, please call customer service, ext. 745" If this is a CAMiD Blacklisting Issue.

For ordering information, please call customer service, ext. 745

What it means: This Message can mean a few things.

In a Straight Access Card to Receiver setup this message alone can mean that the Card has Failed the IRD's ZKT Test because the ZKT is not Valid for Said CAMiD on the Card. If you got some other message (see Your Access Card is no longer Valid, Please insert you new Access Card) Followed by ext 745 upon reinsertion of card into IRD, then it is almost certain that your CAMiD# has been Blacklisted.

This can also occur if you take out a Non Blacklisted Access Card to clean or whatever and reinsert it without resetting or rebooting your IRD.

In an Emulation Setup this message can mean a couple of things. As said above, In a Straight Access Card to Receiver setup this message alone can mean that the Card has Failed the IRD's ZKT Test because the ZKT is not Valid for Said CAMiD on the Card. If you got some other message (see Your Access Card is no longer Valid, Please insert new Access Card) Followed by ext 745 upon reinsertion of card into IRD, then it is almost certain that your CAMiD# has been Blacklisted. Also if your Computer is too slow or if the comports are not fast enough, this can also occur.

What to do: Turn off the receiver and then unplug it from the outlet or power strip. Wait 15 seconds, then plug your receiver back in and turn it on. If the message appears again when you reconnect the receiver, Apply a new Valid bin/image to your card. In the case of Emulation you may need to get a faster computer, I'd recommend at least a Pentium 300Mhz or better PC with 128M RAM.

If a Blacklisted bin/cor is your problem, then you are going to need to get a Non Blacklisted bin to apply to your card or CD For Emulation.

NOTE: For a More In Depth Explanation Of Ext 745 Read this:

http://www.dssunderground.com/forum...sb=5&o=&fpart=1

Possible data corruption. Please call customer service, ext. 746

What it means: Your receiver is transmitting corrupt or incomplete information that may affect your DIRECTV service.

What to do: Resetting your receiver may resolve this problem. Turn off the receiver and then unplug it from the outlet or power strip. Wait 15 seconds, then plug your receiver back in and turn it on. If the message appears again when you reconnect your receiver, call the company that made your satellite equipment or refer to your owner's
<br>manual for the manufacturer's service phone number

Your receiver cannot accept a software download or new data updates with the current access card. Please call customer service, ext. 752

What it means: You have Placed an HU Card into A "P4 Card only" Receiver.

What to do: Place an XX CAMID and XX ZKT (Winkfix) on the X card and it will work in the Winked receiver.

A WINK'd receiver can be UNWINK'd. They are not wink'd forever, unless you don't mind them being wink'd. But, unwinking information can be found at How To UnWink

To check whether your IRD has the update or not, without hooking up the satellite cable press

menu -> options -> upgrades -> past
If it says 380105 receiver has not been winked yet.
If it says 380120 receiver has taken the wink upgrade.

With our ability to extract HU cards' ZKTs it really is not much of a hindrance to emulation with an H card, but the write protect modification should still be performed to prevent DTV from corrupting it in the future making a pile of garbage out of your receiver.

Please insert a valid Access Card

What it means: These Days. this message can mean a Large amount of things.

HU Card directly in the receiver:

In this case the card is most assuredly looped seeing as there is no outside factor involved to think otherwise.

If you are Emulating with an HU Card:

Your CD may be corrupted

Your cor file may be corrupted, either from an error or from Directv ECM'ng it.

Your Emulation Board may not be working or the chips are corrupted.

The Emulation board may not be compatible with your receiver

Your receiver may not be compatible with Emulation

Your Aux Card may not be auxed, or it may have deauxed.

Your card may have looped somehow.

Your Com (Serial) Ports may not be working.

Kryptonite may not be seeing your .cor file.

Your Programmer may be Defective.

You do not have the programmer/Loader and Emulation Board on the right com ports.

[color:"blue"]What to do[/color]:

If you are Emulating with an HU Card:

Make a New Boot CD

Make a New ,cor file and apply it to the CD

Try a different Emulation Board to see if this is the problem.

Find out if your receiver is compatible with Emulation.

Try reauxing your card and reading to make sure it is Auxed,

Read the Cards EEprom to make sure it isn't Looped, if it is, you will need to Unloop it with
the various Unlooping programs out there.

Use TestEMU or RS232 to see if the Com Ports work.

Make sure the .cor file is on the CD properly.

Try a different programmer/Loader to see if this is the problem.

Make sure you have the Programmer on Com port 2 and the Emulation Board on Com Port 1

NOTES FOR EMULATION:

Check to make sure your using the right Phone wire. Lastly, IVAC in Emu when everything looks good - reset the IRD while emulation is running. So many people with new emu's skip this step. Similary, "Searching for Satellite" comes up for a while on some IRDs (as long as 30 seconds) after reset. If you don't know to wait for that to go away, you could be looking for a problem that doesn't exist!

If you are getting IVACs with RCA Receivers Try this:

If you pull your Emu board out of the receiver you have to restart Kryptonite before inserting the card again.

Check set DTR High under options in Kryptonite

Change The IRD innerbyte delay from 0.005 to 0.002.

If you are getting IVACs with Sony Receiver try this:

Change The IRD innerbyte delay to 0.0020.

HU cards can be unlooped with the right software and Hardware.

This Access Card is no longer valid. Please insert your new Access Card

What this means: This Message will appear when Directv has either Swapped out the Version card that you are attempting to use or Directv has Blacklisted the CAMiD# that is on your Access Card.

What to do: If the latter is the reason for this, then you will need to apply a Non Blacklisted bin to your card. If the reason this is happening is because Directv is swapping out Access Card (P2 to P4 or P3 to P4) then you will need to follow the directions and go through the swapping process.

Your Access Card has expired, please insert new Access Card

What it means: On HU Cards You are getting that message because you do not have all the updates to the card yet. Both the DSW(Dynamic Status Word - 0006) and USW(Update Status Word - 0800) need to be at correct. This can also occur when an HU card's tier checksums don't match the proper hash result of that specific tier and tier date. Also this can Occur if the Card does not have a Correct or expired Activation Date. Also at this time, this is one of a few messages you may get when Directv Blacklists your CAMiD#.

What to do: For HU Cards leave the cleaned card in the receiver and get the updates from DTV. This could take anywhere from a few hours to a week or 2 seeing as Directv does not have the USW's in the stream right now.

Searching for satellite signal. Please stand by

What it means: Your receiver cannot pick up a signal from The satellites. This also may happen when you do a reboot or reset of your receiver.

What to do: Check your dish's position to be sure it has not moved. Test the signal strength using your remote control and on-screen menu. Your owner's manual explains how to run a signal test. Make sure the cables that run from your dish to your receiver are securely connected. If you have had severe weather conditions, you should inspect your dish for tree limbs, leaves, or other items that could interrupt a signal. You may have a Transponder Problem or an LNB problem. If you had to reposition your dish, turn off the receiver and then unplug it from the outlet or power strip. Wait 15 seconds, then plug your receiver back in and turn it on. Even if your dish has not moved, try resetting the receiver to see if this clears the message. If inspecting your equipment and resetting your receiver do not correct the problem, and there is no visible weather problems or foliage in your way, then you may have to replace your LNB.

You have inserted the wrong card

What it means: Your card has become married to the first receiver it was inserted into after it was programmed Usually this Happens with Activation Files as 3M Files have an Auto Remarry Function on them.

What to do: Unmarry the card using ExtremeHU 3.5a.

A Short has Been Detected

What it means: There can be a problem with your Access Card, Coax Cable, LNB or IRD or there could be faulty Grounding.

What to Do: This message has been seen the most in Sony IRD's, they are notoriously voltage sensitive and give the 'Short Detected' error quite often. The short probably has nothing to do with the card, card slot or the internal workings of the IRD. Most 'Short Detected' errors can be traced to a failing LNB, faulty grounding or even a deteriorating coax cable. Try replacing or running a straight length of cable to the dish and LNB, if it eliminates the error you have solved your problem. If it persists, it may be the LNB. You are just going to have to do a little trouble shooting to isolate the bad component. If the IRD works well at another location the IRD is not bad. As a last resort - the IRD may be faulty. If your emulating and the emu has caps.. replace with 0.1uf 50V.

Please stand by

What this means: Your card is not currently at DSW0006, this usually happens during a hashing, this happens because DTV wants you to have the Card at DSW0006 so it is ready to execute Dynamic Code.

What to do: Simply let it Update to DSW0006 in the receiver. This should take no longer then a few minutes to do. Unlike the USW's, the DSW's are always in the stream.

Program not available in your area. Check Program Guide for alternate programming

What it means: The program you are trying to watch on this channel is blacked out in your area. This could happen with sports games. This message also appears if you tune to another Cities Local Channels that is not within your area.

What to do: With the Arrival of the new Spot Beam Satellite, All Channels outside of your range with give you this message. If your using Activation, make sure you have the optional sports tiers checked when you install your Activation script.

Searching for Program Guide. Please stand by

What it means: The system has lost the signal for the on-screen guide. It may take several seconds for the on-screen guide to return.

What to do: If the guide does not come up after a few seconds, turn off the receiver and then unplug it from the outlet or power strip. Wait 15 seconds, then plug your receiver back in and turn it on. If the message appears again after you reconnect your receiver, check your dish's position and verify that the dish has not moved. Make sure the signal is not being interrupted by severe weather conditions or objects such as tree limbs, leaves, or other items. If you need to reposition the dish, turn off the receiver and then unplug it from the outlet or power strip. Wait 15 seconds, then plug your receiver back in and turn it on.

Press SELECT for ordering information.

What it means: You have started to buy a pay per view program with your remote control and you are being prompted to continue.

What to do: If you want to buy the pay per view program, press the Select button and follow the on-screen instructions. If you do not want to buy the pay per view program, use the arrow keys on your remote control to exit the on-screen instructions

Q: Why my Mikobu programmer can't read my HU card?

Please make sure you insert your HU card the right side. Also, if your card is too old (over 1 year) the chip on the card might dead. Time to change new card.

Q: What is the jumper on your Mikobu programmer for?

The jumper is originally design for H-card use. Please leave it on for HU use.

Q: What kind of cable and power supply you use for your programmer?

Please only use INPUT: AC 120 V 60 Hz 6W
OUTPUT: DC 9V 300 mA polarity (+)

Q: Do you have a list of DAC settings to use with Mikobu loaders?

DAC 1 range max B2 to min A9
DAC 2 fixed 84
Delay 12
Glitch Type 4C (play with the glitch type, there are only 3 of them)
Attempts per glitch 5
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
DAC 1 range max 9B to Min 8D
DAC 2 fixed 84
Delay 12
Glitch Type 4C (play with the glitch type, there are only 3 of them)
Attempts per glitch 5
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
DAC 1 range max 9B Min 11
DAC 2 fixed 84

Glitch Type 4C (play with the glitch type, there are only 3 of them)
Attempts per glitch 5

Q: Why my MIKOBU III is not unlooping my HU card?

If you have HU card type "4B or 7B", please flash your Mikobu III PS2 with "UL4S" code, this flash will unloop your card faster. For original Mikobu III M6.2 flash, you can always ask your reseller to get it. If you have any more question please contact us.

Q: Why when I install Extreme HU 3.x version the message "runtime error 429
ActiveX component can't create object " will pop up?

You have this message showed up because you didn't install Extreme HU in sequence.
You will have to install ExtremeHU 1.6 Full version first, and then latest Extreme HU 3.x version.

Also be sure to install Extremehusupportfilesv3.zip before you install Extreme HU 3.x
latest version.

Q: Why my programmer is not being detected by HU extreme 3.X? (com 1)

1. Please make sure the serial cable is connect to your programmer and computer.
2. Please make sure the power of your programmer is on.
3. If you are using NON-ENGLISH Windows you might experience Device: Not Detected
4. Please try to re-flash your programmer again.
5. Under Extreme HU please try to change the COM PORT setting (some of the computer is on
com 2 or com 3)

NOTE: YOU CAN ALSO CHECK WHICH COM PORT IS AVAILABLE BY VIEWING WINDOWS "DEVICE MANAGER"

To view the "DEVICE MANAGER" under Win98/me please click on "My Computer" --> "Control Panel"--> "System" --> "Device Manager" --> "Ports (COM & LPT)"

To view the "DEVICE MANAGER" under WinXP please click on "Start" --> Control Panel"--> "System" --> "Hardware" --> "Device Manager" --> "Ports (COM & LPT)"

6. If all the steps above you try still get the same result, please contact your reseller.

Q: I have successfully installed the Mikobu USB Driver to my computer, but why under the Extreme HU 3.x still won't recognize my Mikobu USB hardware?

The hardware won't recognize by Extreme HU 3.X, probably under "File" --> "Settings" COM Port setting you didn't set up correctly.

Please check the "DEVICE MANAGER" under WinXP please click on "Start" --> Control Panel"--> "System" --> "Hardware" --> "Device Manager" --> "Ports (COM & LPT)"

and now check which port under "Ports (COM & LPT)" is your Mikobu USB Com Port

Example: If it shows "Mikobu USB Com Port (COM 4)" please set your Extreme HU 3.x COM Port setting to "Com 4". If you see "Mikobu USB Com Port (COM 5 or 6)" simply just type COM5: or COM6: to change it.

PS: Remember to click "Save and Exit" to update the changes.

I was getting Device Not Detected on 4 of my Windows XP computers and was thinking that Mikobu had gone bad. Last night, I tried the old Mik on a laptop owned by a friend that sported Windows 98. The Mik worked. There is smething in XP that is causing the problem. Microsoft is probably partnering with DSS to stop usage. How else can this be explained? 4 machines with XP bad vs. 1 machine with 98 good. Any explanations from the experts?

Hello,

I am a newbie at all of this. I am having problems, and I also have a couple of questions.

At the beginning I also had problems connecting the mikobu 3 m6.2, like the rest of the people. But after unplugging and replugging in again we finally got it going.

The card was glitching too much, so then I knew I had to unloop the card. Which I was doing really great at, until I got to the point of clicking on the latest bin files-----apparently I have none, how do I go about getting the latest bin files, or if I have them somewhere on the computer where would I find them.

I am hoping that the site that I joined as a 6 month membership, and where I bought the mikobu 3 loader is not one of the places that you have talked about as a scammer operation.

I have tried to email them, and I am having troubles getting through to them, they do answer after awhile, since I have had other problems.

My other question is, will the Mikobu 3 loader accept the P4 cards?

Thanks in advance for any help that you can give to me, I look forward to your answers.
