Pre-Out/Main In Jacks?

Hi,

My older Denon DRA-625RA receiver has two pairs of rca jacks, labled, pre-out and main in? What are these jacks used for?

To link the pre amp outputs to the mian power amp inputs. If they don't have a link in the jacks they are internally linked.
