Ok here is what I have. Receiver: Onkyo TX-SR601 TV: RCA 32inch standard TV with guide plus etc. Speakers: Older Bose Acoustimas setup.
Problem: When running the TV through the reciever/surround sound I will get an occasional crackling sound. I have tried all the inputs on the receiver and all do the same thing.
I do not have any problems with the VCR and DVDs sound fantastic so I don't think it is the speakers. I have also hooked up a set of Polk speakers as a test and still got a little crackling now and then.
I know Bose sucks as far as everybody is concerned but let's get past that as I don't think it is the speakers.
So what is the likely problem. Crappy TV with crappy outputs maybe.
