Easy question about an amp for multi room audio

So I'm replacing an Onkyo M-282 2 channel amp. I have 12 speakers spread among 3 rooms and outdoors. each zone has a knob in the wall to control volume.

If I buy a 12 channel amp, will I still need to use a speaker selector that I had before?
