Running a bi-amp to non-bi-wired speakers

I have a bi-amp ... two sets of outputs (low-freq and high-freq) for each channel ... but I want to drive a simple speaker setup that has only one set of wires to left and right, with a crossover inside each speaker.

Is it possible/safe to simply wire the amp's lowf and highf outputs together at the speaker connections of the amp, then run a single cable to each speaker?

Probably not. I would assume the low and high frequency outputs are discrete circuits. You can't wire the outputs of a power amplifier to the outputs of another power amplifier unless you are trying to achieve having no power amplifier and the nasty smell of burnt electronics.

What separates the frequency bands inside, or prior to, the amplifier?

Is the amp in question some kind of 'Pro' amp?
