Hi, being just new here I guess I am allowed to ask like: does the surround sound receiver allow top quality hi fi sound as well as for home theater. Or it is better to have one receiver for each. Or what?
Would NAD do the job? I am interested mainly in hi fi sound and secondly in others.

Hi Mosha! Thanks for stopping by.Yes, a receiver can deliver everthing you want.
And yes, seperates can go one better.
What do you need?
If you are starting from step one, as it seems, you are a lucky fellow. I have spend untold dollars on stuff that only got me partway to where I am now, which is partway to where I wish I was.
Clear as mud?

You might start with a room devoid of any electronics at all.

Envision the sound you want to have.

Do you see a tv and surround sound? That's path one.

Do you hear 2 speakers filling your head with full sound? That's path 2.

Do you have unlimeted pounds to spend, or are you budget minded?

It needent cost a mint for great sound, but, if you underbuy or plan poorly, you will be dissappointed, and that sucks.
What do you expect from your purchase, what type of music do you enjoy, and how big is the room?
