I have been trying to decide on speakers to run off a Harman Karkon AVR-435. I am trying to get a comparison betweeen the C-5 & VR-1. Or if anyone has any other suggestion for that $600 to $750 price range,,,
I did not compare with the BAs when I bought my C-5s, but found them to be the best speaker among comparably-priced modesl from B&W, KEF, Polk, Paradigm and others. If I were looking today in that price range, I would again consider Paradigm and also PSB in addition to the C-5s. The Energy's do sound great paired with HK, though. What is your intended usage of the speakers (music vs. HT)? and what type of music? size of room? normal listening volume? Those are all things to consider. I absolutely love my C-5s - I think they're the best in Energy's Connoisseur series for my tastes. And if you like them, they're definitely a good choice; i.e. no problems with them at all, no disappointments, etc.
