Marantz sr 4500 or 5500 as a pre/pro

Newbie question. My brother is willing to donate to me his Rotel 1066 6 channel amp. I was wondering if I can use the 1066 to drive the L, C, R channels (bridged), with the Marantz 4500 serving as the pre for those channels, yet powering the rear L+R on its own?

At the risk of repeating myself, what I am trying to do is make the Marantz work as a processor only for the front speakers, and as an integrated (processor and amp at the same time) for the surround speakers.

Hope you can clarify this for me.
