Need advice on whether to use older speakers with new Onkyo HT System

Hi Everyone- I am a real newbie to home theater. I've read these postings for info & advice and have ordered the Onkyo HT S650 system to get started. One thing I was wondering-I have a very old but nice sounding (for stereo at least) & beautiful set of walnut EPI 150 speakers from the 1970's. Is speaker technology much better now--could I use the older speakers to replace the two big ones that come with the Onkyo? Thank you for your help.

Try it, but be aware that the onkyo spkrs are quite inefficient and need quite a bit of power to drive them, so if your old spkrs are much more efficient they may drown out the rest.
