Non-Guru Needs Assistance

I am electronically challenged, that is to say I am all thumbs, don't know AC from DC, and have difficulty connecting any component correctly.

That said, I was watching a DVD movie using my H/K AVR 525 when the power failed, then came back, failed again, returned, then finally died for good. The next day, I tried to finish the film when I discovered that the audio track was totally mute. Video signal was perfect.

Every other receiver function works fine (cable, CD, etc.). In DVD mode only, the L & R channel indicators blink. Does this sound like surge damage to the receiver, the DVD, or both?

If the 525 needs repair, can anyone suggest a good repair facility?

Go to their website, they should have a list of authorized repair facilities.
Check the speaker connections first, make sure that there are no wires that are crossed.

Berny:

Thanks!

I spoke to an H/K authorized repair tech. Looks as though the receiver has to go in for surge repair. Bummer.
