2 Channel music?

Home theater?

Polk speakers.

I'm trying to find a balance here between music and HT needs. If I had to lean one way or the other - it would be HT winning out. I know that everyone has different tastes in sound, but knowledgable opinions are valuable to me.

I've been listening to a Denon AVR2800 since it was introduced way back when. Anyway, thanks in advance for your input. My decision time is this week.

Both are much better with Polks than the Denon so choose whichever you like best or has the features you want. Tough choice between two very good receivers. I of course like the Elite's best but sonically they are so close you can't go wrong either way.

It is my understanding the Marantz 7400 does not have upconversion and it seems like most other receivers in that price range do. That might not be an issue to some.

The 7400 does have upconversion and surround head phone.

This is where I got my info when you read under home theater clout it states there is no built in upconversion.

I see the Marantz website says it has upconversion so I don!t know what is wrong with that reviewer.
