I have a JBL DPS-10 (no comments please!) that the amp has gone out on. I have a Pioneer VSX-D814 receiver. Is it possible to use this subwoofer as a passive sub? I did a search but didn't really find anything relating to this...

Nope Sorry You would have to Open it UP and Re Wire everything, so i Suggest You go out and Buy a Second Hand Passive sub or Get some $ and get a Power one
