I am planning to get the Marantz sr5300. I will be using it 60% stereo and 40% movies. My only reservation is the sub crossover is only @80Hz which is not good for me because I do not have a full range speakers. I have the Paradigm Phantom FL/FR,CC-170 C, Atom SR/SL and Yamaha Sw-315 sub. Anyone using the Marantz sr 5300 with sat and sub set up. Has the Marantz enough power for Home Theatre for a 12X24 foot room with a cathedral ceiling? Please tell me your experience.

i have a Marantz SR4300 but i don't know what's the crossover set to, where u found out that the SR5300 is 80hz...i checked their manual and they never state it, if 5300 is at 80hz, i think SR4300 is just the same as well...

I believe the 5300 has a user assignable crossover i.e. 80hz, 100hz and 120hz.

The 4300, 5300 and 6300 is fixed at 100Hz. The 7300 has 80, 100 and 120.

The new 5400 has 80, 100, 120.

Depending on the speakers you have, 80 is essential (and also THX standard).

Look at the new 5400. It has plenty of power. But test at dealer for dropout problems. My first 5400 had dropout on digital input, my replacement is 100%.
