We got our hands on a 2015 BMW i8 hybrid electric supercar. This $150,000 exotic sports car arrived in crystal white pearl effect with blue highlights, and it looked absolutely amazing. You won’t find a more head turning automobile this year.
The coupe has scissor doors, which essentially open up. That looks cool, but it certainly makes getting in and out a little awkward. It’s a tight squeeze for anyone over six feet tall to get in, but it is possible. Once you get wedged into the seat tall people will have enough headroom to actually drive. There is something called a backseat in this ultimate driving machine, but usable by a grand total of nobody.
Before I could test anything else, we sent out Mimi and Grace with a GoPro-style action camera called the Pyle eXpo to give us their thoughts. As you’ll see in the video, they don’t get very far on an electric charge. The battery-only mode range is just 15 miles, otherwise you’ll be guzzling gas at 28 MPG. But if you use both electric and gas together the car is rated at 76 MPG.
Now if you watched the video you’ll see Mimi and Grace had a lot of fun, but took a tumble. I am happy to report both girls were a little shaken, but OK. They’re ready to test another vehicle. Any takers?
